Trusting Your Gut Has Real Merit
Recently, one of our Master's Path students said to me, "Since I've been learning about the energy of each season and doing the practices that enhance my kidneys, I no longer dread winter!" - I, too, feel the same way.
I used to hate winter and dreaded the cold, dark days. But now that I understand it as a time of quiet transformation, I appreciate it so much. It feels necessary, just like strengthening my kidney chi.
Strengthening kidney chi through Meridian Flow yoga and qigong builds my endurance, so I have the energy to get outside and walk or ski. One of my favorite sayings is, "There's no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing."
Getting outside and being in nature is essential, even when it's cold and gray! It's incredible how lonely being inside four walls can be, but once I get out into the trees, I feel reconnected to the natural world and revitalized.
Knowing that our kidneys and the water element are associated with gentle, innate wisdom has also helped me listen to and trust my intuition.
The Sage is the archetype associated with the water element, which speaks to trusting our deep knowing.
Although trusting intuition is not taught in our society, the ancient masters knew that 'trusting our gut' (lower dantien, kidney area) is a saying with much merit.
Research has shown that the gut brain instinctively registers information before it is processed in the brain. Trusting my gut has been crucial for me as a yoga studio owner and a mother.
This weekend, we will strengthen our kidney chi and listen to our intuition during the Winter Wellness weekend for the Master's Path and 300-hour Teacher Trainees.
We invite you, {First Name}, and the community to join us and learn meditations, breathwork, yoga, and Qigong for the winter water element. You'll get a taste of what a Master's Path weekend is like and get to know some like-minded yogis!
These longevity practices will allow you to age gracefully, maintain a clear, sharp mind, and move with relaxed effort. They are designed specifically for the energy of the winter water element, where we conserve, store, and pack our Chi!
I hope you join us, as these seasonal weekends are transformative and inspiring!
From my heart to yours~
Namaste,
Maggie
